Rediscovering LM4

Welcome to the hitherto untold story of one of the lesser-known Aston Martin factory team cars of the 1930s, LM4. Written by Steve Waddingham, with a foreword by three-time Le Mans winner Darren Turner and illustrated throughout by some of the most talented photographers in the automotive business, this book reveals the fascinating relationship between this remarkable car and its eclectic handful of charismatic owners.

Vintage race car with the number 37 leading a race on a dirt track, followed by another race car with the number 34; spectators' banners are visible in the background.
Two race car drivers in racing suits hugging each other inside a tent at a racing event.
Vintage green car racing on a dirt track with a woman waving and a man driving, and a crowd of spectators watching from the side.

Racing, Romance,
Bravery, Tragedy and Joy.

The story of this unique car stunned both Steve and his fellow researcher, Martin Saul, as they painstakingly uncovered it over years of diligent research and exploration.

In creating the book, the team took the car back to a selection of the most important places from its history – locations where it raced and lived. To the racetracks, towns, houses and even the aircraft in which the owners raced, frequented, lived, flew and fought.

A Legacy You Can Hold

Beautifully handcrafted in hardback, this 206-page coffee table-style publication is not the usual ‘car history book’: in telling the story of LM4 we believe we have created something truly unique.
